The Big Questions is our bi-annual survey for young people living in supported housing services within our membership. With it, we aim to reach as many young people from as many services as possible to ensure that every young person has an opportunity to be heard and to create change.
This most recent survey took place throughout June and July 2022. One of the messages that came across loud and clear is that this is a time of major instability for young people. This is due to anxiety about the rising cost of living, continued concern about mental health and lack of access to effective services, and awareness of current global events including war, uncertainty about human rights in the UK, and the current political climate.
On the positive side, the survey results highlight the impact of the ongoing work Foyers are doing to listen to young people in creative, continuous ways. We saw an increase in the number of young people who feel confident to tell their Foyer what they think and see things happen as a result. There was also a rise in the number of young people who expressed a wish for their voices to be heard more widely, and a large number of young people interested in contributing to Foyer leadership.
