Young Enterprise visit Youth Foyers to inspire young people through start ups
Over the summer, Youth Foyers in Manchester and Plymouth were joined by Young Enterprise for inspirational and practical workshops on how to start a business.

The workshops took place as part of Foot Anstey’s long-term partnership with Young Enterprise to improve social mobility across the UK, of which the Foyer Federation is thrilled to be involved to pilot delivery of their programme.
Through interactive and creative sessions, the facilitators from Young Enterprise guided groups of young people who lived in the Youth Foyers through business principles, including market research, funding, branding and USPs, and provided the space and opportunity for participants to apply their ideas in practical activities.
In Manchester, the young people broke off into groups and planned creative launches for businesses of their choice, from photography studios to gyms and even phone and computer repair shops.
Meanwhile, in Plymouth, the young people built a business concept for a new brand of Crocs specifically designed ergonomically for skaters called ‘Scrocs’ – Skater Crocs.

One young person from Manchester said of the day,
“The session was great – I learned a lot of valuable skills on how to run and advertise a business. It was a great eye opener and introduced me to a lot of different topics, including the finances needed… [Young Enterprise] gave great insight, especially financial safety nets and business enterprise!”
A young person from Plymouth said,
“After talking and giving our pitch, I feel a lot more confident in our business idea. I can see it going far and genuinely being a great plan!”
Ella Craddock, Programme & Learning Manager of the Foyer Federation said,
“Young Enterprise delivered some great workshops. The young people were really engaged and inspired by the sessions! The facilitators were incredibly supportive and encouraging, and the young people left the session feeling optimistic and bursting with new ideas!”
We’re looking forward to seeing Young Enterprise again in February for another session in Bath, and we’re thrilled to be visiting Foot Anstey in Bristol on 31st March for a career insights day, where young people will gain further insight into career opportunities for their futures.
