From everyone at the Foyer Federation, we wish you a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year.

2020 hasn’t been the year we expected this time in 2019. It’s been a year of unique challenges and trying times. But in amongst the lockdowns and tiers, there have been bright moments to celebrate.

Now more than ever, the resilience of the young people we work with has shown itself to be a valuable asset. We’ve seen young people’s empathy and community spirit shining through to help keep everyone in their Foyers safe and well, as well as their determination to keep achieving milestones under these tricky circumstances. It was a highlight of our year to see so many fantastic stories of young people shortlisted in the Room for Young People awards, and meeting others as part of our Pass It On, Advantaged Thinking Influencers and Making Change Happen programmes.

We’ve also seen inspiring examples of Foyer staff going the extra mile for their colleagues and residents, changing ways of working quickly and effectively to make sure they could still deliver positives outcomes with and for young people during one of the most challenging periods of history.

It’s these positives we want to keep in mind as we celebrate Christmas this year.
