Powering Up Youth
Developing youth leadership and power in your service
Working in an Advantaged Thinking way means putting young people at the centre of their own solutions, co-creating opportunities with them to influence the service, and sharing power in fundamental areas of your work. In many organisations, this can be a challenging thing to do.
Are you looking to unpack how your service listens to and acts on young people’s views? Do you recognise the importance of including young people in decision-making processes, but you’re not sure how to get started? If the answer is yes, then our Powering Up Youth training is for you.
Overview:
In this workshop, we support you to unpack how your service involves, listens to and acts on the insights of young people. We reflect on power dynamics in your service, bringing insight from our own work on sharing power, but also innovations from the wider sector and beyond. The workshop was co-created and is co-delivered with young people with lived experience, enabling us to bring authentic perspectives to the subject matter.
Objectives:
- Gaining a common understanding and foundation of power dynamics in youth supported housing.
- To identify barriers and opportunities for the organisation to share power.
- Inspire and exemplify ways to build and share power.
- Recognise the importance of youth power and leadership.
- Decide on a specific course of action to grow youth leadership.
