The Big Questions – November 2023
The Big Questions – November 2023
The findings from our biannual survey of young people living in supported accommodation.
The Big Questions is our bi-annual survey for young people living in supported housing services within our membership. With it, we aim to reach as many young people from as many services as possible to ensure that every young person has an opportunity to be heard and to create change.
This most recent survey took place throughout November and December 2023. Young people told us that they are still worried about the cost of living crisis, and concerns about the cost of basic necessities including food, rent and heating are growing. Housing is also becoming increasingly concerning for young people living in Foyers, with the percentage of respondents worried about their housing situation doubling between Spring and Autumn 2023.
On the positive side, the survey results highlighted that more young people than ever are interested in contributing to leadership in their Foyers. We saw an increase in the number of young people who feel more confident about speaking up and taking action about the issues they care about. There was also a rise in the number of young people who see things change in their Foyer as a result of them speaking up.
