The Foyer Federation Fellowship for Leaders is an exciting new leadership development programme for those working within the UK Foyer network.

Supported by the John Ellerman Foundation, the Fellowship will build the capacity of existing and emerging leaders within the Foyer workforce. Through an action learning approach, the fellowship will encourage innovation in the workplace, by giving you space away from your day job to reflect on your practice, develop your skills and ideas, which will in turn lead to better outcomes for young people.

Who is it for?

The Fellowship is divided into two streams that run alongside each other: one is for managers, and the other for frontline practitioners.

Acknowledging that leadership qualities are essential in all roles, the Fellows will participate in combined sessions as a whole group, as well as stream-specific sessions to focus on leadership development in their particular professional situations. If you work in Foyers or oversee a group of Foyers, and aspire to develop your leadership qualities in your frontline or management position, learning alongside others from the Foyer network and with inspiration from other fields, this Fellowship is for you.

Why take part?

The Fellowship will focus on key themes for leadership, with an on-going emphasis on developing practice in your own place of work.

The Fellowship will take into account that people learn in a variety of different ways, as well as guest speakers and workshops, there will be structured action learning sets and coaching sessions, to accompany you on your own leadership development journey. It will focus on:

  • Self-leadership and resilience
  • Personal theories of change
  • Critical thinking
  • Developing entrepreneurship
  • Innovation
  • Influencing skills

What will the structure be?

After an initial set-up workshop, the Fellowship will come together in person for 3 residentials over the course of 12 months. The residentials will take place over two consecutive days at different locations across the UK. Input from inspirational guest speakers and facilitators will be followed by themed workshops and time spent with your action learning sets. Equally important will be the time spent together informally as a group.

In between each of the residentials, you will access your one-to-one session with your coach to support you in goal setting, reflecting on progress and overcoming problems you may be encountering.

A celebration event will be organised at the end of the Fellowship for Leaders programme.
