Our annual Spark Awards celebrates talent across the sector, appreciating the often unsung contributions of the Foyers, their staff, and their young people.
The Awards transcend stereotypes, challenge unconscious bias and promotes social mobility that inspires the confidence in the ‘advantage’ of all young people regardless of background.
We know that our network works tirelessly all year-round to provide a positive induction into adulthood for young people who cannot live at home. Through personal development training and a focus on assets rather than disadvantages, together the network has provided young people with access to housing, learning and employment opportunities. The Spark Awards is the time to celebrate this achievement.
Highlights from 2018
2018 marked The Foyer Federation’s 26th anniversary and to celebrate the achievements and innovations of our membership, we hosted the Spark Awards with a drinks reception, gala-style dinner and entertainment.
Held in Birmingham, well-dressed guests made their way through the doors of the stunning Fazeley Studios venue where they enjoyed drinks, a delicious three-course meal and a good dance to end the evening. This year winners were recognised across 9 award categories.
Highlights included the Lifestyle Bids team presenting one lucky lady with a brand new iPad for only £0.04. They also presented the room with the chance to reverse bid for the opportunity to win a luxurious dinner and stay at the Shangri-La Hotel in The Shard escorted in a Rolls Royce! After dinner the room was graced with the beautiful talent of Elle Irvine who for certain touched the collective heart of the audience with her outstanding vocals and performance on the guitar.
Highlights from 2017
2017 marked the first year of the Foyer Federation Spark Awards. Over a three course dinner, young people, staff and Foyers were recognised across 10 award categories. With over 100 delegates in attendance, there was a vibrant atmosphere and each winner was announced to thunderous applause, recognising the hard work and dedication of each individual.
Our CEO Tokunbo Ajasa-Oluwa said: “The Awards shone a spotlight on successes that might otherwise be overlooked. They were the perfect platform to showcase Foyer talent and the abundance of young and staff talent was phenomenal. There was a tremendous buzz in the room, with both the anticipation of who was going to win and the feel good factor when the winner was announced.”
