Foyer Comrades
Foyer Comrades is our peer support system that connects service staff with colleagues from across our network of 65 UK Foyers to build valuable relationships and work together to improve practice. How comrades spend their time together is up to them – from coaching to sharing problems, asking advice or coming up with new ideas.
You’ll be paired with someone in a similar role for six months, then after six months you’ll have the choice to either stay, rotate or opt-out. If you stay you will continue in your current pairing for a further 6 months. If you rotate you will be re-pair with someone new enabling you to make two valuable connections over the year.
Comrades can decide between them how often they meet and their method of connecting. This flexible approach means pairs can work their meetings around existing commitments. As far as possible, we’ll try to link you with people based on your priorities and interests.
We will check in with you after three months to see how you are getting on. We’ll give you positive prompts or you can use the conversation starters tool in our information pack. When the first six months are up, we’ll hold a catch-up meeting to share thoughts and re-pair those wishing to continue.

‘Every time we have spoken it has been positive and helpful. With being new to this role, it was great to speak to someone with experience and talk about day to day struggles / positives to work on and how another business runs their Foyer. Not to have a structure of the conversation has helped – it means we can have a little talk of the latest updates from our service and know that we are not alone.’A Foyer Comrade participant
Foyer Connect
Foyer Connect gives staff in direct delivery roles a chance to meet peers from other services and learn about what’s happening in other Foyer services. Workshops focus on practical approaches to role-specific challenges and ways to implement Advantaged Thinking in day-to-day practice.

Great Gatherings
Held in summer, our Great Gatherings are for staff in all roles and create space for ideation, innovation and aspiration. Speakers from across the youth sector share insights into their work, and attendees are encouraged to think creatively as they reflect on their practice.
Check back soon for more information about our plans for the next round of Great Gatherings.
Connecting Leaders
Opportunities to engage in strategic discussions, collaborate and network with leaders from across the supported housing sector.
Ideas Lab
Ideas Lab is a space for service/senior managers to get creative about their services using a deep-dive innovation approach. Starting with a problem statement, we thoroughly examine a common challenge and discover practical approaches in solving it. Ambitious, off-the-wall ideas are encouraged!
Email [email protected] to enquire about holding an Ideas Lab session at your service.
Investor Inspire Days
Twice a year, our Investor members join us for two days of inspiration. Senior managers visit inspiring services and organisations, hear from guest speakers who can offer fresh perspectives, and discuss what support the Foyer Federation can offer.
Inspire Days are exclusive to Investors. To find out more about becoming an Investor of the Foyer Federation, visit our membership page.
