The Foyer Federation is on the lookout for a young person to join our friendly team and work with us towards enabling young people to realise their power and purpose. It’s a fantastic opportunity for a young person looking to take up a role in the non-profit sector and begin their mission-driven career.
As part of the government’s Kickstart scheme, the roles are available to anybody aged 16-24 and in receipt of Universal Credit. Young people can apply by visiting their local job centre and speaking to their Work Coach and referencing the job title below.
Youth Development Coordinator
We are seeking a creative, savvy, driven and adaptable Youth Development Coordinator who is connected to and passionate about the wider issues affecting young people today. This role will make the best of your people skills, natural empathy and inspiring tenacity as you join us in building community and engagement with young people who can’t live at home.
The Youth Development Coordinator will be a key member of the team working to deliver parts of our Youth Influence and Involvement Strategy. You will be fantastic at engaging young people through strong, genuine, positive relationships, and will have a passion for working with young people through their strengths and talents. You’ll naturally develop a rapport with young people through digital, video and face-to-face events. Incurably curious and full of energy, you will make the most of the opportunity to work across a range of projects and develop new skills.
Working closely with the Head of Programme and Network, you will take a prominent role in engaging, listening to and involving young people aged 16-25 from our network of Foyers. You will be experienced in direct work with groups of young people who have faced challenging circumstances. Using your up-to-date knowledge of youth culture, you will seek out, create and share content and opportunities that interest, engage and skill up young people. Throughout your work, you will advocate for young people and ensure their voices are heard.
This is a busy and challenging role within a small, friendly team. You will be required to work independently at times and to collaborate at others, and will have excellent communication and time management skills. Creativity, positivity and empathy are among your top attributes. You’re the kind of person who gets things done and takes pride in your work.
We’re working in partnership with Charityworks, the UK-non-profit sector’s Kickstart gateway as part of a collaborative effort to power up our sector with exceptional talent and make a real impact on youth unemployment. So as part of their paid job at the Foyer Federation, successful applicants will also take part in a supported six-month development offer delivered by Charityworks. The programme will equip the young person with the connections, experiences, tools and insight needed to succeed in their day job, and will also help them to build a peer community, and skills to transition well beyond the placement, and develop long term careers in the non-profit sector.
