Foyer Federation CEO comments on new government strategy to end rough sleeping by 2027

The Foyer Federation welcomes the announcement from James Brokenshire, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, on the government strategy to end rough sleeping in England by 2027.

The £100m drive will provide help with mental health and addictions, as well as offer targeted support to help get rough sleepers into long-term accommodation. The Foyer Federation – whose 26th anniversary will be celebrated in October – have been committed to providing these services for young people who are experiencing homelessness.

Foyer Federation CEO, Tokunbo Ajasa-Oluwa, said: “Through our network of more than 70 centres for young people, the Foyer Federation provides accommodation, personal development and employability support in a safe space for young people who are experiencing homelessness.

“We welcome the government’s decision to invest in mental health support for England’s rough sleepers and encourage our philosophy of Advantaged Thinking about using the advantages we possess as humans – their assets, talents, resources and abilities – to create the conditions for a society in which everyone can thrive.”
