“The Two most important days in life are the day you were born, and the day you know why…”

The success of our young people determines the future success of our society. However, we often view our young people through a lens of negativity and mistrust, holding them back. When we value and TrustYouth we unleash the talent of young people, creating a positive society in which everyone can thrive.

What is TrustYouth?

TrustYouth is an alliance of organisations and individuals working to promote an asset-based approach to young people which we call “Advantaged Thinking.” Underpinning this philosophy is the belief that everyone has a talent which, given the right opportunities, we can work to identify and harness for personal and social good.

Rosie’s Story

Rosie Graduation 2

Rosie, 25, moved into Plymouth Foyer when she was 17 years old.

After 18 months, she left the Foyer to go to The University of Glasgow to study Chemistry. The Foyer had changed Rosie; she became hungry for opportunity and less angry.

“Whilst I was happy to be going to university, I was disappointed that I had not got onto my first choice of course – Medicine (to become a Doctor). Four years later I had gained my degree in Chemistry from Glasgow and reapplied to Medicine. Swansea university offered me a place! This was three years ago and I am now about to enter my final year, this time next year I will be a Doctor!”

Our Core Principles

All young people have:

  • ASSETS that can be developed
  • TALENTS that can provide solutions
  • EXPERIENCES we can draw upon
  • RESOURCES we can tap into
  • ENERGY to spark change and create progress
  • POTENTIAL to lead society and
  • the ABILITY to be the authors of their own destiny.

By changing the way we all talk about, understand, work with, invest in, believe in and involve young people, we can provide improved services which support them to develop into healthy, happy adults, able to navigate fulfilling careers and contribute to their communities.
