The Foyer Federation exists to inspire young people to realise their power and purpose

Our member network provide housing, support and training, developing the talent of young people who have experienced homelessness.

91% of young people in Foyers progress in social skills, 83% improve their health and 69% develop in education with 30% in employment when they leave.

Our member-exclusive programmes and events are developed to address the real needs of the youth supported housing sector, while identifying ways to encourage young people's aspirations and supporting them to realise their potential.

We bring people and organisations together

We have built a community of like-minded organisations who are driven to ensure young people can realise their power and purpose.

Our UK network of Foyers share experiences and learnings, working with young people to weave Advantaged Thinking principles into everything they do.

What is Advantaged Thinking?

Foyers provide a safe, nurturing place for young people experiencing homelessness to live, learn and flourish.
We take an strengths-based approach, called Advantaged Thinking, in all the work we do, encouraging young people to aim high, dream big and fulfil their ambitions.

Adventures In Advantaged Thinking publication

Take a journey through Advantaged Thinking in 10 exciting chapters and explore the origins, theory, practice and impact of Advantaged Thinking. The publication includes evidence for the approach with first hand experiences of young people and members of staff who live and work in Advantaged Thinking services.

Advantaged Thinking was introduced to the world by the Foyer Federation in 2011. All our products, services and initiatives are built on a foundation of Advantaged Thinking, as well as being grounded in the reality of working alongside young people.

Advantaged Thinking isn’t about waiting for gifts – it’s about creating them. This publication is our Advantaged Thinking gift to you. It’s a present that’s been shaped from the lives and experiences of many inspiring individuals and organisations. From the 30 years of learning from young people and staff across the Foyer network.
